Mr Albert Jillo Sandy was born in 1952 in the
Northern Province of Sierra Leone where he went through his primary
school education.
He proceeded to Freetown the capital, where
he continued and completed his secondary school education at the
Prince of Wales Secondary School in 1969.
Mr Sandy then enrolled at the Institute for
French Studies in Monrovia, Republic of Liberia, and the Institute
for French studies in Abidjan, Republic of Ivory Coast where he
obtained the Diploma in French Studies.
Back in Sierra Leone, Mr Sandy pursued studies
in French, English and Economics at the Milton Margai Teacher's
College from 1985-1988 where he obtained the Higher Teachers Certificate
(H.T.C.)
In 1994/1995 Mr Sandy completed the Bachelor
of Philosophy (B.Phil.Ed.) course in Special Education at the
University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. He joined the Milton
Margai School for the Blind staff in 1989 as Deputy Headteacher,
a position he held until January 2006 when he was appointed Headteacher.
In addition to his field of work, Mr Sandy
has attended several workshops and seminars in Lome, Republic
of Togo, Abidjan, Republic of Ivory Coast, Conakry, Republic of
Guinea, Canada and the United Kingdom.
Mr Sandy was one of the main coordinators who
took the school choir on a very successful tour of the United
Kingdom in August, 2003.
